Dear Baby,
We are apparently 14 weeks now! Did you hear that? That's officially, undoubtedly, unarguably second trimester - so, um, how about that nausea stopping sometime soon, okay? Anytime soon would be good, so, think about it. I know you're busy in there, growing and all, and are about the size of a lemon or large shrimp. Honestly, a large shrimp is easier to imagine, shape-wise. The whole fetal/fruit comparison thing never really worked for me visually, but I can see a shrimp. Definitely.
Right now, we're busy busy busy doing a bunch of work on the house, getting everything all ready so that when you join us this late winter, (you were originally due - and technically still are- on the day after the vernal equinox - but we'll be working with the U/S on this one simply because of how you'll most likely be born - which is another post altogether someday when I feel like talking about it) we'll have all the nagging things we've been wanting to do with the house mostly finished. At least most of the inside stuff that would likely cause a lot of dust and make you sneeze, and we don't want that, of course. So our handy contractor Tom is here a lot making stuff happen. Yay!
Here's what our bedroom looks like right now...
As you can see, chaos reigns. Our house was built in 1930, and was originally a sweet little craftsman 4-square (sort of - more like a craftsman vernacular, but whatever) and it has been added onto several times. The last addition consists of what is now our bedroom which just had a lot of empty space that didn't look or really feel right. It was almost like a random bonus room with our bed just sort of in it. Anyway, we'll be repainting the walls to something more to our liking (we didn't put that color up) and wallpapering the new wall. So excited. I used to be so very anti-wallpaper, but now I'm totally thrilled about the choice we made and hope that it looks as amazing as I think it's going to look. We'll see.
(and do you see that throw on our bed? Oh yeah, Missoni for Target. That was my #1 hoped for item from the line so I did the mad dash after dropping Ronan off at school on Tuesday and hustled to the SuperT. Nabbed it! Apparently some girl was there earlier than I - and I was there 1/2 hour after opening- who spent over $600 on just the Missoni stuff! That's a wee bit cray cray if you ask me. But who am I to judge? All I can say is, I'm glad I'm not bidding over $200 on Ebay for a $39.99 throw - know what I'm sayin', I know you do...know what I'm sayin'.) That last bit is from Veggie Tales and I find it hilarious. Alas...
As for the downstairs, we had to repaint the dining room as that was the main destruction zone from when all of the galvanized steel plumbing had to be replaced - um because it was rusting. So, finally we repainted over those big plaster rectangles of former plumbing project. Of course, if you paint one room... you need to repaint the room next to it! And now our living room looks like this...
The walls are plaster, so all the cracks and such were repaired and mudded, and now the new beautiful light blue color is going up. Can I just say how incredible this color is now? From dark brown to light blue? The color makes the room look 100x brighter! I was really shocked when it first was going up, but I'm so glad we chose such a bright, cheerful color. Woo! I will admit, though, I am sort of going nuts over the upstairs and downstairs simultaneous chaos, but I know that we'll be glad we did all this before the baby comes or we'd probably be holding off on doing anything for another couple years.
I'll update with more construction posts as things get changed up.
And now, my self-taken belly shot at 14 weeks.
This pregnancy, so far, I cannot stand wearing pants of almost any sort. They drive me crazy for whatever reason, so I am opting for maxi dresses right now. Since I live in a rather warm year round climate, this is unlikely to cause too much of an issue, but I did go through my maternity clothes from years gone by, and alas, can I just say? I am SO OVER THEM. Ugh and double ugh. I'm definitely going to get creative this time around and work my normal clothes for as long as possible. My maxi dress in this photo is by Ella Moss for A Pea in the Pod. Like almost all of her stuff, it is so so so comfortable and soft. I will very likely be SO OVER IT, come March due to extreme wear. But I love it now.
You look beautiful and I am beyond proud of your photography!! Beautiful momma!!
